Narrative:
We were cruising at FL340 when we encountered continuous light chop. We checked the FMS to see if we could climb to FL370. The FMS said we could. ZDV gave us clearance to FL370. Upon reaching FL370, we were 20 KTS above stall. Airspeed continued to decrease even in level flight (behind the power curve). We asked for lower -- FL350 or FL330. ZDV said FL350 wasn't available, he'd check FL330. We then told ZDV that we needed to descend (stall shaker) 15 KTS. The stall shaker then went off. I took over controls manually and started a descent. The first officer requested immediate descent. At FL367 ZDV told us to descend to FL330. At FL360 ZDV requested to expedite descent. We descended at 3000 FPM and ZDV thanked us for our help. Don't always believe the FMS.

Title: CL65 FLC REQUESTED AN IMMEDIATE DSCNT TO A LOWER ALT SINCE ACFT PERFORMANCE WAS INSUFFICIENT FOR MAINTAINING CRUISE ALT.
Narrative: WE WERE CRUISING AT FL340 WHEN WE ENCOUNTERED CONTINUOUS LIGHT CHOP. WE CHKED THE FMS TO SEE IF WE COULD CLB TO FL370. THE FMS SAID WE COULD. ZDV GAVE US CLRNC TO FL370. UPON REACHING FL370, WE WERE 20 KTS ABOVE STALL. AIRSPD CONTINUED TO DECREASE EVEN IN LEVEL FLT (BEHIND THE PWR CURVE). WE ASKED FOR LOWER -- FL350 OR FL330. ZDV SAID FL350 WASN'T AVAILABLE, HE'D CHK FL330. WE THEN TOLD ZDV THAT WE NEEDED TO DSND (STALL SHAKER) 15 KTS. THE STALL SHAKER THEN WENT OFF. I TOOK OVER CTLS MANUALLY AND STARTED A DSCNT. THE FO REQUESTED IMMEDIATE DSCNT. AT FL367 ZDV TOLD US TO DSND TO FL330. AT FL360 ZDV REQUESTED TO EXPEDITE DSCNT. WE DSNDED AT 3000 FPM AND ZDV THANKED US FOR OUR HELP. DON'T ALWAYS BELIEVE THE FMS.
