Narrative:
I was getting flight following from tpa approach control. At about 8 mi out, I let tpa approach know I had lakeland in sight. They (tpa approach) ended my flight following and was told to contact lakeland tower. I called lakeland tower and gave my position and said I had ATIS information and would be making a full stop landing. At that time the lakeland tower asked my position and I stated, '6 mi to the west of lakeland at 2100 ft.' the tower controller stated, 'straight into runway niner, cleared to land.' as I landed, I pulled off of runway 9 at the most convenient taxiway. 2 airplanes were waiting for takeoff on 2 txwys prior to the one I exited. After exiting, I called the tower and stated, 'aircraft is off of niner and would like to taxi to the base of the tower.' the controller called back and said 'cherokee, who gave you clearance to land?' I stated, 'you did, 6 mi out with a straight-in to runway niner.' I believe they were using 2 runways -- runway 9 and runway 5. About 1/2 hour later, I called the tower and was told the controller had just gone home. When I did come out of the FBO, there were 2 cherokee aircraft outside parked next to my plane. One cherokee did have a few numbers that were close to mine. I believe there was a mistake in identities with my airplane and the cherokee.

Title: A C182 PLT, ASSUMING THE LNDG CLRNC HE HEARD WAS FOR HIM, LANDED AT LAL, QUESTIONS WERE FORTHCOMING FROM THE TWR CTLR.
Narrative: I WAS GETTING FLT FOLLOWING FROM TPA APCH CTL. AT ABOUT 8 MI OUT, I LET TPA APCH KNOW I HAD LAKELAND IN SIGHT. THEY (TPA APCH) ENDED MY FLT FOLLOWING AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT LAKELAND TWR. I CALLED LAKELAND TWR AND GAVE MY POS AND SAID I HAD ATIS INFO AND WOULD BE MAKING A FULL STOP LNDG. AT THAT TIME THE LAKELAND TWR ASKED MY POS AND I STATED, '6 MI TO THE W OF LAKELAND AT 2100 FT.' THE TWR CTLR STATED, 'STRAIGHT INTO RWY NINER, CLRED TO LAND.' AS I LANDED, I PULLED OFF OF RWY 9 AT THE MOST CONVENIENT TXWY. 2 AIRPLANES WERE WAITING FOR TKOF ON 2 TXWYS PRIOR TO THE ONE I EXITED. AFTER EXITING, I CALLED THE TWR AND STATED, 'ACFT IS OFF OF NINER AND WOULD LIKE TO TAXI TO THE BASE OF THE TWR.' THE CTLR CALLED BACK AND SAID 'CHEROKEE, WHO GAVE YOU CLRNC TO LAND?' I STATED, 'YOU DID, 6 MI OUT WITH A STRAIGHT-IN TO RWY NINER.' I BELIEVE THEY WERE USING 2 RWYS -- RWY 9 AND RWY 5. ABOUT 1/2 HR LATER, I CALLED THE TWR AND WAS TOLD THE CTLR HAD JUST GONE HOME. WHEN I DID COME OUT OF THE FBO, THERE WERE 2 CHEROKEE ACFT OUTSIDE PARKED NEXT TO MY PLANE. ONE CHEROKEE DID HAVE A FEW NUMBERS THAT WERE CLOSE TO MINE. I BELIEVE THERE WAS A MISTAKE IN IDENTITIES WITH MY AIRPLANE AND THE CHEROKEE.
