Narrative:
Aircraft arrived at gate with logbook write-up of electric smell during taxi in to gate before APU start and all system appear normal. Aircraft was ventilated and checked all compartments from avionics, cabin, cockpit baggage, etc. Could not determine what the source was. Ran bite checks of electronic system, avionics cooling, air conditioning, blowers, etc. Coordinated with technical center -- could not duplicate and all checked ok. There were no faults or failures on postflt report. Did not find a procedure in manuals for this problem since all checked out with no faults. Aircraft was released with no incident for several days. The reason for filing this report is that at the time I feel everything was done and checked properly to dispatch the aircraft safely.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN AIRBUS 320 ON TAXI IN TO GATE DETECTED AN ELECTRICAL SMELL. AFTER INTENSIVE CHK OF ACFT AND SYS, MAINT WAS UNABLE TO VERIFY RPT.
Narrative: ACFT ARRIVED AT GATE WITH LOGBOOK WRITE-UP OF ELECTRIC SMELL DURING TAXI IN TO GATE BEFORE APU START AND ALL SYS APPEAR NORMAL. ACFT WAS VENTILATED AND CHKED ALL COMPARTMENTS FROM AVIONICS, CABIN, COCKPIT BAGGAGE, ETC. COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT THE SOURCE WAS. RAN BITE CHKS OF ELECTRONIC SYS, AVIONICS COOLING, AIR CONDITIONING, BLOWERS, ETC. COORDINATED WITH TECHNICAL CTR -- COULD NOT DUPLICATE AND ALL CHKED OK. THERE WERE NO FAULTS OR FAILURES ON POSTFLT RPT. DID NOT FIND A PROC IN MANUALS FOR THIS PROB SINCE ALL CHKED OUT WITH NO FAULTS. ACFT WAS RELEASED WITH NO INCIDENT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THE REASON FOR FILING THIS RPT IS THAT AT THE TIME I FEEL EVERYTHING WAS DONE AND CHKED PROPERLY TO DISPATCH THE ACFT SAFELY.
