Narrative:
During takeoff on runway 24 in teterboro we heard the control tower direct another aircraft to go around. After becoming airborne we heard the pilot of that aircraft ask the control tower, 'why did that hawker takeoff in front of U?' the control tower asked us why we departed after being instructed to 'taxi into position and hold.' we stated that we must have misunderstood our clearance. As professional pilots, we don't know why we would takeoff without a clearance. There seem to be no contributing factors. We were well rested and familiar with the airport. We notified management of our mistake and were brought home for retraining.

Title: HAWKER 800XP CREW TOOK OFF WITHOUT CLRNC AT TEB.
Narrative: DURING TKOF ON RWY 24 IN TETERBORO WE HEARD THE CTL TWR DIRECT ANOTHER ACFT TO GAR. AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE WE HEARD THE PLT OF THAT ACFT ASK THE CTL TWR, 'WHY DID THAT HAWKER TKOF IN FRONT OF U?' THE CTL TWR ASKED US WHY WE DEPARTED AFTER BEING INSTRUCTED TO 'TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD.' WE STATED THAT WE MUST HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD OUR CLRNC. AS PROFESSIONAL PLTS, WE DON'T KNOW WHY WE WOULD TKOF WITHOUT A CLRNC. THERE SEEM TO BE NO CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. WE WERE WELL RESTED AND FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. WE NOTIFIED MGMNT OF OUR MISTAKE AND WERE BROUGHT HOME FOR RETRAINING.
