Narrative:
On taxi out of ramp at sdf, we were told to taxi on taxiway F and hold short of runway. As we were planning on takeoff on runway 17R, we taxied on taxiway F (as taxi sign allows) and held short of runway 11. After holding for a few mins, we were directed to cross runway 17R. After starting to move, ground control started yelling that we were not where we were supposed to be. The entire crew looked at each other with no idea what ground was upset about. Ground continued that we were supposed to have been holding on taxiway F. After crossing, I questioned ground and stated that we had in fact followed the taxi sign for taxiway F. Ground came back and said 'oh yeah, we know, there is a problem there and are trying to correct it.' corrective action: if ground wants a right turn on taxiway F, then they need to be more precise with taxi instructions, especially where taxiway signs are misleading or the airport has a problem area as they admitted.

Title: B727 FLC FOLLOW WHAT THEY PERCEIVED AS CORRECT TAXI INSTRUCTIONS ONLY TO BE CHALLENGED BY SDF GND CTLR. ATC LATER AGREES THAT THERE 'IS A PROB' IN THAT AREA AND THEY 'ARE TRYING TO CORRECT IT.'
Narrative: ON TAXI OUT OF RAMP AT SDF, WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI ON TXWY F AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY. AS WE WERE PLANNING ON TKOF ON RWY 17R, WE TAXIED ON TXWY F (AS TAXI SIGN ALLOWS) AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 11. AFTER HOLDING FOR A FEW MINS, WE WERE DIRECTED TO CROSS RWY 17R. AFTER STARTING TO MOVE, GND CTL STARTED YELLING THAT WE WERE NOT WHERE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE. THE ENTIRE CREW LOOKED AT EACH OTHER WITH NO IDEA WHAT GND WAS UPSET ABOUT. GND CONTINUED THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN HOLDING ON TXWY F. AFTER XING, I QUESTIONED GND AND STATED THAT WE HAD IN FACT FOLLOWED THE TAXI SIGN FOR TXWY F. GND CAME BACK AND SAID 'OH YEAH, WE KNOW, THERE IS A PROB THERE AND ARE TRYING TO CORRECT IT.' CORRECTIVE ACTION: IF GND WANTS A R TURN ON TXWY F, THEN THEY NEED TO BE MORE PRECISE WITH TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, ESPECIALLY WHERE TXWY SIGNS ARE MISLEADING OR THE ARPT HAS A PROB AREA AS THEY ADMITTED.
