Narrative:
After takeoff from runway 8 in denver, co, departure control had us on a vector that was taking us to the northeast. Departure control then told us to turn left and proceed yammi. I started my turn to the left thinking yammi might be a VOR on the yellowstone 1 SID that we were filed for. I was unaware that yammi was an intersection and that we had no way of going direct. I should have not accepted the clearance.

Title: A BE1900 PIC ACCEPTS A VECTOR TO PROCEED TO AN INTXN WHEN THE ACFT WAS NOT CAPABLE OF SUCH CLRNC, 20 MI NE OF DEN, CO.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM RWY 8 IN DENVER, CO, DEP CTL HAD US ON A VECTOR THAT WAS TAKING US TO THE NE. DEP CTL THEN TOLD US TO TURN L AND PROCEED YAMMI. I STARTED MY TURN TO THE L THINKING YAMMI MIGHT BE A VOR ON THE YELLOWSTONE 1 SID THAT WE WERE FILED FOR. I WAS UNAWARE THAT YAMMI WAS AN INTXN AND THAT WE HAD NO WAY OF GOING DIRECT. I SHOULD HAVE NOT ACCEPTED THE CLRNC.
