Narrative:

I landed at fpr runway 14. I put the brakes on hard to make the first taxiway as the airport was very busy. This overheated my brakes and for 10-15 seconds I could not move. I was just outside the entrance to the first turn-off and was unable to communicate with the tower. The tower was constantly broadcasting giving directions to other aircraft. I was continuously trying to move. The tower had another aircraft on short final and told them to go around and advised me to get off the runway. I was then able to make it to the taxiway. It is obvious the tower controller was overwhelmed with traffic (students from the many flight schools). They are not able to have 2-WAY communication and because of the high volume of training flts, the aircraft are so close to each other in the pattern and on the ground. In closing I think some pressure should be taken off the tower controllers and everything slow down to a safe and manageable pace. The controllers do a good job, but are overwhelmed.

Title: A C172 PLT, AFTER LNDG AT FPR, COULD NOT CLR RWY DUE TO OVERHEATED BRAKES.

Narrative: I LANDED AT FPR RWY 14. I PUT THE BRAKES ON HARD TO MAKE THE FIRST TXWY AS THE ARPT WAS VERY BUSY. THIS OVERHEATED MY BRAKES AND FOR 10-15 SECONDS I COULD NOT MOVE. I WAS JUST OUTSIDE THE ENTRANCE TO THE FIRST TURN-OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE TWR. THE TWR WAS CONSTANTLY BROADCASTING GIVING DIRECTIONS TO OTHER ACFT. I WAS CONTINUOUSLY TRYING TO MOVE. THE TWR HAD ANOTHER ACFT ON SHORT FINAL AND TOLD THEM TO GO AROUND AND ADVISED ME TO GET OFF THE RWY. I WAS THEN ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE TXWY. IT IS OBVIOUS THE TWR CTLR WAS OVERWHELMED WITH TFC (STUDENTS FROM THE MANY FLT SCHOOLS). THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO HAVE 2-WAY COM AND BECAUSE OF THE HIGH VOLUME OF TRAINING FLTS, THE ACFT ARE SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER IN THE PATTERN AND ON THE GND. IN CLOSING I THINK SOME PRESSURE SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE TWR CTLRS AND EVERYTHING SLOW DOWN TO A SAFE AND MANAGEABLE PACE. THE CTLRS DO A GOOD JOB, BUT ARE OVERWHELMED.
