Narrative:
We were in a descent on the warm 1 arrival into clt. ATC made us aware of traffic to look for 11 - 12 O'clock position several mi ahead. We were given a heading to avoid traffic and after passing were cleared back to adena. We were given an RA by TCASII and descended to 10200 ft where the RA cleared. ATC then informed us he had lost transponder and radio communication with merlin. We continued to clt.
