Narrative:
Location: hou. We were cleared to taxi to runway 4 on taxiway G. The RVR was 3000 ft, poor visibility. I taxied past runway 4 as I was slightly confused with the signs and the visibility. I could see the runway off to the left. Apparently the end of the runway touches the taxiway though to me this was not apparent at the time. Thus, I mistakenly taxied past my runway while at the same time crossing the approach end. No problems with conflicting traffic. We turned around at the end of taxiway G and returned to takeoff on runway 4. I mention this to highlight the proximity of runway 4 to the taxiway. More diligence on my part would have avoided this mistake. Supplemental information from acn 535749: running the required checklist and briefings, we inadvertently crossed the active runway at the approach end. No conflict occurred. Ground control was notified and cleared us for a 180 degree turn and to hold short of runway 4.

Title: AN S80 FLC CROSSES THE ACTIVE RWY, RWY 4, THEIR ASSIGNED RWY, WITHOUT CLRNC ON A FOGGY NIGHT OP IN HOU, TX.
Narrative: LOCATION: HOU. WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 4 ON TXWY G. THE RVR WAS 3000 FT, POOR VISIBILITY. I TAXIED PAST RWY 4 AS I WAS SLIGHTLY CONFUSED WITH THE SIGNS AND THE VISIBILITY. I COULD SEE THE RWY OFF TO THE L. APPARENTLY THE END OF THE RWY TOUCHES THE TXWY THOUGH TO ME THIS WAS NOT APPARENT AT THE TIME. THUS, I MISTAKENLY TAXIED PAST MY RWY WHILE AT THE SAME TIME XING THE APCH END. NO PROBS WITH CONFLICTING TFC. WE TURNED AROUND AT THE END OF TXWY G AND RETURNED TO TKOF ON RWY 4. I MENTION THIS TO HIGHLIGHT THE PROX OF RWY 4 TO THE TXWY. MORE DILIGENCE ON MY PART WOULD HAVE AVOIDED THIS MISTAKE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 535749: RUNNING THE REQUIRED CHKLIST AND BRIEFINGS, WE INADVERTENTLY CROSSED THE ACTIVE RWY AT THE APCH END. NO CONFLICT OCCURRED. GND CTL WAS NOTIFIED AND CLRED US FOR A 180 DEG TURN AND TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 4.
