Narrative:
While setting takeoff power at ZZZ right engine EPR gauge failed to respond and continued to read idle power as throttles were advanced. N1 and N2 advanced normally. Takeoff was aborted at a speed below 80 KTS. After taxiing clear of runway we troubleshot the EPR gauge with aid of the aircraft flight manual. While all the procedures seemed to be directed to in-flight configns we decided to turn on the engine anti-ice to see if we could regain operation to the affected EPR gauge. This resulted in proper function of the malfunctioning instrument. We took off without incident on the next attempt. With a temperature dew point of 6 degrees/-14 degrees and no visible moisture present use of anti-ice wasn't indicated. However, a short application of engine anti-ice to the affected engine resolved the problem.

Title: AN MD80 REJECTED TKOF AT 80 KTS DUE TO R ENG PRESSURE RATIO INDICATOR STUCK AT IDLE WITH N1 AND N2 NORMAL.
Narrative: WHILE SETTING TKOF PWR AT ZZZ R ENG EPR GAUGE FAILED TO RESPOND AND CONTINUED TO READ IDLE PWR AS THROTTLES WERE ADVANCED. N1 AND N2 ADVANCED NORMALLY. TKOF WAS ABORTED AT A SPD BELOW 80 KTS. AFTER TAXIING CLR OF RWY WE TROUBLESHOT THE EPR GAUGE WITH AID OF THE ACFT FLT MANUAL. WHILE ALL THE PROCS SEEMED TO BE DIRECTED TO INFLT CONFIGNS WE DECIDED TO TURN ON THE ENG ANTI-ICE TO SEE IF WE COULD REGAIN OP TO THE AFFECTED EPR GAUGE. THIS RESULTED IN PROPER FUNCTION OF THE MALFUNCTIONING INST. WE TOOK OFF WITHOUT INCIDENT ON THE NEXT ATTEMPT. WITH A TEMP DEW POINT OF 6 DEGS/-14 DEGS AND NO VISIBLE MOISTURE PRESENT USE OF ANTI-ICE WASN'T INDICATED. HOWEVER, A SHORT APPLICATION OF ENG ANTI-ICE TO THE AFFECTED ENG RESOLVED THE PROB.
