Narrative:
Tower cleared me to runway 23. Leaving ramp, I crossed hold short line to runway 23. Tower asked intentions. I asked to do a 180 degree turn and go to end of runway from ramp. No other traffic in area. Because of plowed snow, ramp and taxiway was configured different than airport diagram. Runway 23 has a threshold displaced 800 ft. The landing portion was plowed to its 150 ft width. The 800 ft takeoff was only plowed about 60 ft. It looked like a taxiway! The hold short line was very faded and hard to see with sun on windshield. I thought I knew where I was at this small airport, but the new paths created by the plowed snow misled me. If tower had mentioned changes caused by plowing, it might have helped. I will exercise greater care when taxiing at new airports in the future.

Title: RWY INCURSION WHEN A BONANZA BE33 PLT CROSSES THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 23 AT ELKO, NV.
Narrative: TWR CLRED ME TO RWY 23. LEAVING RAMP, I CROSSED HOLD SHORT LINE TO RWY 23. TWR ASKED INTENTIONS. I ASKED TO DO A 180 DEG TURN AND GO TO END OF RWY FROM RAMP. NO OTHER TFC IN AREA. BECAUSE OF PLOWED SNOW, RAMP AND TXWY WAS CONFIGURED DIFFERENT THAN ARPT DIAGRAM. RWY 23 HAS A THRESHOLD DISPLACED 800 FT. THE LNDG PORTION WAS PLOWED TO ITS 150 FT WIDTH. THE 800 FT TKOF WAS ONLY PLOWED ABOUT 60 FT. IT LOOKED LIKE A TXWY! THE HOLD SHORT LINE WAS VERY FADED AND HARD TO SEE WITH SUN ON WINDSHIELD. I THOUGHT I KNEW WHERE I WAS AT THIS SMALL ARPT, BUT THE NEW PATHS CREATED BY THE PLOWED SNOW MISLED ME. IF TWR HAD MENTIONED CHANGES CAUSED BY PLOWING, IT MIGHT HAVE HELPED. I WILL EXERCISE GREATER CARE WHEN TAXIING AT NEW ARPTS IN THE FUTURE.
