Narrative:
Departure west from SOP on V54 at assigned altitude of 6000 ft. Observing a target approaching slightly below us on TCASII. As target closed went to 6 NM range and continued to observe closure. Target showed to be approximately 100 ft below us and converging head-on. No sight of target at any point. I turned on all external lights at approximately 3 mi from target. As target actually passed below and behind us, a second target appeared on TCASII, which triggered evasive action (TCASII directed 'climb'), resulting in a deviation of some 600 ft above our assigned altitude. Don't know if the second target was a phantom or perhaps military traffic originating from mackall army airfield. In any event, no mention was made of our altitude bust by ATC, nor did they issue any traffic alerts. Remainder of flight was uneventful.

Title: SJS32 CREW HAD TCASII RA IN FAY CLASS E AIRSPACE.
Narrative: DEP W FROM SOP ON V54 AT ASSIGNED ALT OF 6000 FT. OBSERVING A TARGET APCHING SLIGHTLY BELOW US ON TCASII. AS TARGET CLOSED WENT TO 6 NM RANGE AND CONTINUED TO OBSERVE CLOSURE. TARGET SHOWED TO BE APPROX 100 FT BELOW US AND CONVERGING HEAD-ON. NO SIGHT OF TARGET AT ANY POINT. I TURNED ON ALL EXTERNAL LIGHTS AT APPROX 3 MI FROM TARGET. AS TARGET ACTUALLY PASSED BELOW AND BEHIND US, A SECOND TARGET APPEARED ON TCASII, WHICH TRIGGERED EVASIVE ACTION (TCASII DIRECTED 'CLB'), RESULTING IN A DEV OF SOME 600 FT ABOVE OUR ASSIGNED ALT. DON'T KNOW IF THE SECOND TARGET WAS A PHANTOM OR PERHAPS MIL TFC ORIGINATING FROM MACKALL ARMY AIRFIELD. IN ANY EVENT, NO MENTION WAS MADE OF OUR ALT BUST BY ATC, NOR DID THEY ISSUE ANY TFC ALERTS. REMAINDER OF FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
