Narrative:

While being pushed back in phoenix, the tug operator hit the side of the aircraft under the passenger door, leaving an approximately 4 inch by 1 inch dent. The rampers did not notify the crew. The crew flew the plane to santa barbara where myself and my crew picked up the plane. My first officer did the preflight walkaround and did not notice the dent because it was blocked from view by the open passenger door. The previous crew also did not see the damage on their postflt walkaround. My crew then flew the aircraft to phoenix. While the next crew was preflting the aircraft, the damage was noticed. The aircraft was then grounded until fixed. I feel the rampers should be better trained on the importance of reporting damage of any kind. Also, flight crew's should be more aware of the possibility of damage caused by ground equipment.

Title: CL65 FLC OPERATE ACFT AFTER AN ACFT TUG VEHICLE DRIVER HIT SIDE OF ACFT MAKING A DENT UNDER THE MAIN CABIN DOOR WITHOUT RPTING IT TO THE FLC.

Narrative: WHILE BEING PUSHED BACK IN PHOENIX, THE TUG OPERATOR HIT THE SIDE OF THE ACFT UNDER THE PAX DOOR, LEAVING AN APPROX 4 INCH BY 1 INCH DENT. THE RAMPERS DID NOT NOTIFY THE CREW. THE CREW FLEW THE PLANE TO SANTA BARBARA WHERE MYSELF AND MY CREW PICKED UP THE PLANE. MY FO DID THE PREFLT WALKAROUND AND DID NOT NOTICE THE DENT BECAUSE IT WAS BLOCKED FROM VIEW BY THE OPEN PAX DOOR. THE PREVIOUS CREW ALSO DID NOT SEE THE DAMAGE ON THEIR POSTFLT WALKAROUND. MY CREW THEN FLEW THE ACFT TO PHOENIX. WHILE THE NEXT CREW WAS PREFLTING THE ACFT, THE DAMAGE WAS NOTICED. THE ACFT WAS THEN GNDED UNTIL FIXED. I FEEL THE RAMPERS SHOULD BE BETTER TRAINED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF RPTING DAMAGE OF ANY KIND. ALSO, FLC'S SHOULD BE MORE AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY GND EQUIP.
