Narrative:
Performed CAT III a ILS at bos. At 800 ft and after we were cleared to land the tower advised there was a 140 ft ship in the bay, after landing and on closer look at the approach plate there is a small notation that the approach (CAT ii/III) is not authorized with tall ships in the bay. There was no mention on the ATIS of the ship and no mention in the note of what constitutes a 'tall' ship and everyone going into bos for the 2 + hours we were there and even beyond our departure were doing this approach. I write this only because if there is a reason for the notation on the approach and there are tall ships in the bay perhaps it should be noted on the ATIS and not on short final. There was absolutely no problem with the approach and landing and I still have no idea what constitutes a 'tall' ship for this approach.
