Narrative:

After initial contact with cincinnati departure, I was cleared to climb to 4000 ft MSL. I inadvertently climbed through 4000 ft to 6000 ft. I discovered the altitude deviation when ATC reminded me that I had been cleared only to 4000 ft. At that time I was directed to level off at 6000 ft, which I did. The remainder of the flight was uneventful. A contributing factor was a distraction regarding the transponder which had just been repaired as well as other avionics issues.
