Narrative:
Discontinued takeoff after a compressor stall on the left engine. We were about 60 KTS. After taxiing off the runway, we noticed the oil quantity at zero. We shut the left engine down and taxied to the gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the takeoff was rejected at 60 KTS due to a loud compressor stall and was not a high energy stop. The reporter said on turning off the runway it was noted the loss of oil quantity and pressure and the engine was shut down. The reporter stated an emergency was declared due to the cabin attendants reporting the smell of smoke in the cabin. The reporter said the engine was at maximum power when the stall occurred and some parts of the engine were left on the runway. The reporter stated the cause of the engine failure has not been reported by maintenance to the crew.

Title: AN MD80 REJECTED TKOF AT 60 KTS DUE TO L ENG COMPRESSOR STALL. ON RWY TURNOFF DECLARED AN EMER DUE TO SMELL OF SMOKE IN CABIN.
Narrative: DISCONTINUED TKOF AFTER A COMPRESSOR STALL ON THE L ENG. WE WERE ABOUT 60 KTS. AFTER TAXIING OFF THE RWY, WE NOTICED THE OIL QUANTITY AT ZERO. WE SHUT THE L ENG DOWN AND TAXIED TO THE GATE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE TKOF WAS REJECTED AT 60 KTS DUE TO A LOUD COMPRESSOR STALL AND WAS NOT A HIGH ENERGY STOP. THE RPTR SAID ON TURNING OFF THE RWY IT WAS NOTED THE LOSS OF OIL QUANTITY AND PRESSURE AND THE ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. THE RPTR STATED AN EMER WAS DECLARED DUE TO THE CABIN ATTENDANTS RPTING THE SMELL OF SMOKE IN THE CABIN. THE RPTR SAID THE ENG WAS AT MAX PWR WHEN THE STALL OCCURRED AND SOME PARTS OF THE ENG WERE LEFT ON THE RWY. THE RPTR STATED THE CAUSE OF THE ENG FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN RPTED BY MAINT TO THE CREW.
