Narrative:
The APU for aircraft X was inoperative and an external air cart was needed. Minimum requirements were met and a start was attempted. Light-off was normal, however, the egt continued to slowly rise. Prior to reaching the limit, aborted start procedure was completed. Maintenance was contacted, a second air cart was obtained, and the engine was started normally. Maintenance advised the captain that this could be written up after departure.
