Narrative:

I accomplished a repair of the sound deadening material on the #2 engine in accordance with srm 54-00-01-2. When I applied the patch material, I applied the heat gun in accordance with srm due to below minimum outside air temperature. The patch had set up but was tacky. I proceeded to accomplish work on our other overnight aircraft. I then returned to the job and the patch was still tacky to touch. I again applied heat gun which did not help patch get any harder. Before going to other aircraft/workload, I will fill out a write-up made by technician for rechk to check repair at least 1 hour before shift change to check if patch has set up properly.

Title: A B757-200 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN INCOMPLETE REPAIR ACCOMPLISHED TO THE R ENG NOSE COWL.

Narrative: I ACCOMPLISHED A REPAIR OF THE SOUND DEADENING MATERIAL ON THE #2 ENG IN ACCORDANCE WITH SRM 54-00-01-2. I PROCEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH WORK ON OUR OTHER OVERNIGHT ACFT. I THEN RETURNED TO THE JOB AND THE PATCH WAS STILL TACKY TO TOUCH. I AGAIN APPLIED HEAT GUN WHICH DID NOT HELP PATCH GET ANY HARDER. BEFORE GOING TO OTHER ACFT/WORKLOAD, I WILL FILL OUT A WRITE-UP MADE BY TECHNICIAN FOR RECHK TO CHK REPAIR AT LEAST 1 HR BEFORE SHIFT CHANGE TO CHK IF PATCH HAS SET UP PROPERLY.
