Narrative:

We were completing a part 121 flight into white plains, ny, on a visual approach to runway 16. The first officer landed the aircraft and the tower asked if we could hold short of runway 11. As I was taking control of the aircraft from the first officer on the rollout, I replied that we could. As I was slowing the aircraft through approximately 20 KTS, we rolled over the runway hold short line for runway 11 and the tower cleared a GA single for takeoff. I realized I had rolled over the line and stopped the aircraft (still well short of runway 11 by 75 ft or so). The tower told us to 'stop right there,' which we were doing. I saw the GA aircraft fly over at about 200 ft or so. We exited runway 16 to the ramp. At no time did our aircraft enter runway 11. No longer will I accept a hold short -- no matter how long or short the runway.

Title: RWY INCURSION RWY 11 BY A DHC-8 FLC WHEN ASKED TO HOLD SHORT DURING THEIR LNDG ROLL ON RWY 16 AT HPN, NY.

Narrative: WE WERE COMPLETING A PART 121 FLT INTO WHITE PLAINS, NY, ON A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 16. THE FO LANDED THE ACFT AND THE TWR ASKED IF WE COULD HOLD SHORT OF RWY 11. AS I WAS TAKING CTL OF THE ACFT FROM THE FO ON THE ROLLOUT, I REPLIED THAT WE COULD. AS I WAS SLOWING THE ACFT THROUGH APPROX 20 KTS, WE ROLLED OVER THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 11 AND THE TWR CLRED A GA SINGLE FOR TKOF. I REALIZED I HAD ROLLED OVER THE LINE AND STOPPED THE ACFT (STILL WELL SHORT OF RWY 11 BY 75 FT OR SO). THE TWR TOLD US TO 'STOP RIGHT THERE,' WHICH WE WERE DOING. I SAW THE GA ACFT FLY OVER AT ABOUT 200 FT OR SO. WE EXITED RWY 16 TO THE RAMP. AT NO TIME DID OUR ACFT ENTER RWY 11. NO LONGER WILL I ACCEPT A HOLD SHORT -- NO MATTER HOW LONG OR SHORT THE RWY.
