Narrative:
I had decided to fly to ZDC, landing at ZZZ airport, md. I called the FSS and got a WX briefing and asked what restrs were there at the airport. I was told there were no restrs and I could go VFR. I had planned on filing an IFR and I did. I got a clearance as filed. The trip was uneventful except that tower, after lowering me to 1500 ft, cancelled my IFR. I knew that was wrong, but I could see ZZZ, so I squawked 1200 and landed. On landing, I was told to call tower. I did and they asked if my clearance was dropped by ZZZ1. I was told by the airport that I had violated sfar 94 and should not have landed there. I was questioned by law enforcement. I was released and flew home. I called the FSS and asked them to hold the tape recording.
