Narrative:
During practice ILS approach to runway 35 at ftg, mr X was the pilot and I was the safety pilot. We smelled burning and after that our radios made loud noise and died. We saw all the instrument lights flash and a lot of smoke from the control panel. We decided immediately to make forced landing in an open field. Mr X landed the plane while I performed emergency checklist. After landing, we turned off the plane and evacuate/evacuationed it. We called flight school for help right away via cell phone. The cause of the problem was alternator sending too much voltage, causing damage to airplane radios.

Title: PIPER PA28 PLTS, WHILE MAKING A PRACTICE ILS APCH, OBSERVED SMOKE COMING FROM THE INST PANEL AND RADIO FAILURE RESULTING IN AN OFF ARPT FORCED LNDG.
Narrative: DURING PRACTICE ILS APCH TO RWY 35 AT FTG, MR X WAS THE PLT AND I WAS THE SAFETY PLT. WE SMELLED BURNING AND AFTER THAT OUR RADIOS MADE LOUD NOISE AND DIED. WE SAW ALL THE INST LIGHTS FLASH AND A LOT OF SMOKE FROM THE CTL PANEL. WE DECIDED IMMEDIATELY TO MAKE FORCED LNDG IN AN OPEN FIELD. MR X LANDED THE PLANE WHILE I PERFORMED EMER CHKLIST. AFTER LNDG, WE TURNED OFF THE PLANE AND EVACED IT. WE CALLED FLT SCHOOL FOR HELP RIGHT AWAY VIA CELL PHONE. THE CAUSE OF THE PROB WAS ALTERNATOR SENDING TOO MUCH VOLTAGE, CAUSING DAMAGE TO AIRPLANE RADIOS.
