Narrative:
During cruise, noticed aileron servo indicator showed full deflection. Control wheel and all other indications looked normal. Disconnected autoplt. Airplane started a slow roll to the left. Applied right aileron force to stop roll. Noticed control wheel force moderate to heavy to the right. Exerted moderate force and felt a 'pop' in the wheel. We were able to control flight with ailerons, but could feel a 'binding' in the wheel. SELCAL'ed dispatch and maintenance. Decided to divert to mke. Uneventful landing and postflt inspection. Discovered ice in wheel well area and around pulley assemblies.

Title: AILERON SERVO INDICATOR ON A DC9-30 INDICATES AN OUT OF TRIM CONDITION WHICH LATER WAS FOUND TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH AN ACCUMULATION OF ICE IN THE WHEEL WELL, BINDING THE AILERON CTL CABLES. PRECAUTIONARY DIVERSION TO MKE, WI.
Narrative: DURING CRUISE, NOTICED AILERON SERVO INDICATOR SHOWED FULL DEFLECTION. CTL WHEEL AND ALL OTHER INDICATIONS LOOKED NORMAL. DISCONNECTED AUTOPLT. AIRPLANE STARTED A SLOW ROLL TO THE L. APPLIED R AILERON FORCE TO STOP ROLL. NOTICED CTL WHEEL FORCE MODERATE TO HVY TO THE R. EXERTED MODERATE FORCE AND FELT A 'POP' IN THE WHEEL. WE WERE ABLE TO CTL FLT WITH AILERONS, BUT COULD FEEL A 'BINDING' IN THE WHEEL. SELCAL'ED DISPATCH AND MAINT. DECIDED TO DIVERT TO MKE. UNEVENTFUL LNDG AND POSTFLT INSPECTION. DISCOVERED ICE IN WHEEL WELL AREA AND AROUND PULLEY ASSEMBLIES.
