Narrative:

Flying the choshi 1 departure (runway 34). After takeoff, we initially flew the SID until about 10000 ft, then we were given a 130 degree heading to join the hme 096 degree radial to join the SID again. I could see the hme 096 degree radial on my navigation display so I pushed LNAV to capture it. But the FMC made a hard right turn after I pushed LNAV to join another radial on the SID. By then I got the aircraft going the right direction. I flew about 3 mi past the hme 096 degree radial. Departure control just said, 'you have flown through the radial.' I was unable to figure out how to join a radial on the CDU quickly enough.
