Narrative:
Taxied to runway 22R, stopped prior to runup area (which was occupied by a saab 340). Ground told the saab we were next. I called to confirm this before pulling forward, because we had not yet been given our rerte. Btr thought we were flight Y (who was still at the gate), told them we were flight X. Btr then told the saab they were next. The saab said they weren't ready. Btr gave us our rerte, said we would be next. Saab said they were ready. Btr again changed the sequence to the saab. Then the saab said they couldn't find spurs, so btr told us to 'get on out there, we need 15 mi in trail.' I moved up to the runway. After crossing the hold short line and just at the runway, the first officer shouted 'no.' I immediately stopped. Btr was now calling us asking what we were doing. I apologized and asked what they would like us to do. They cleared us for takeoff, runway heading. There was no traffic in the area. I should have waited to hear the proper terminology to cross the hold short line.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A NEAR RWY INCURSION WHEN THE PIC OF A CL65 MOVES UP PAST THE HOLD LINE AFTER HEARING A PHRASE THAT INTIMATED A POS AND HOLD FROM TWR AT BTR, LA.
Narrative: TAXIED TO RWY 22R, STOPPED PRIOR TO RUNUP AREA (WHICH WAS OCCUPIED BY A SAAB 340). GND TOLD THE SAAB WE WERE NEXT. I CALLED TO CONFIRM THIS BEFORE PULLING FORWARD, BECAUSE WE HAD NOT YET BEEN GIVEN OUR RERTE. BTR THOUGHT WE WERE FLT Y (WHO WAS STILL AT THE GATE), TOLD THEM WE WERE FLT X. BTR THEN TOLD THE SAAB THEY WERE NEXT. THE SAAB SAID THEY WEREN'T READY. BTR GAVE US OUR RERTE, SAID WE WOULD BE NEXT. SAAB SAID THEY WERE READY. BTR AGAIN CHANGED THE SEQUENCE TO THE SAAB. THEN THE SAAB SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND SPURS, SO BTR TOLD US TO 'GET ON OUT THERE, WE NEED 15 MI IN TRAIL.' I MOVED UP TO THE RWY. AFTER XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND JUST AT THE RWY, THE FO SHOUTED 'NO.' I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. BTR WAS NOW CALLING US ASKING WHAT WE WERE DOING. I APOLOGIZED AND ASKED WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE US TO DO. THEY CLRED US FOR TKOF, RWY HDG. THERE WAS NO TFC IN THE AREA. I SHOULD HAVE WAITED TO HEAR THE PROPER TERMINOLOGY TO CROSS THE HOLD SHORT LINE.
