Narrative:
On takeoff from phx we received a climb TA/RA. I was the PF and executed the climb maneuver. About 5 seconds later we get a call from tower, letting us know about a navajo aircraft that would pass from our right to left. The first officer spotted the airplane and said it was 100 ft to the left and low, eventually passing directly underneath our aircraft. We went to departure frequency and continued. With a short turn time, we waited to call tower upon reaching destination. We let the tower personnel know of the incident. The person refused to give us their name but would look into the incident. 'Near miss' due to miscom from the tower. Supplemental information from acn 548020: right after takeoff on runway 4L at 500 ft AGL we got a climbing RA for traffic that appeared to be right underneath us. The target read -01. It was so close to us that I guessed it was under us. After the RA tower then told us about him as we climbed following the TCASII instructions. A rather uncomfortable situation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A320 CREW HAD AN NMAC WITH A PA31 WHEN DEPARTING RWY 7L AT PHX.
Narrative: ON TKOF FROM PHX WE RECEIVED A CLB TA/RA. I WAS THE PF AND EXECUTED THE CLB MANEUVER. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER WE GET A CALL FROM TWR, LETTING US KNOW ABOUT A NAVAJO ACFT THAT WOULD PASS FROM OUR R TO L. THE FO SPOTTED THE AIRPLANE AND SAID IT WAS 100 FT TO THE L AND LOW, EVENTUALLY PASSING DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH OUR ACFT. WE WENT TO DEP FREQ AND CONTINUED. WITH A SHORT TURN TIME, WE WAITED TO CALL TWR UPON REACHING DEST. WE LET THE TWR PERSONNEL KNOW OF THE INCIDENT. THE PERSON REFUSED TO GIVE US THEIR NAME BUT WOULD LOOK INTO THE INCIDENT. 'NEAR MISS' DUE TO MISCOM FROM THE TWR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 548020: RIGHT AFTER TKOF ON RWY 4L AT 500 FT AGL WE GOT A CLBING RA FOR TFC THAT APPEARED TO BE RIGHT UNDERNEATH US. THE TARGET READ -01. IT WAS SO CLOSE TO US THAT I GUESSED IT WAS UNDER US. AFTER THE RA TWR THEN TOLD US ABOUT HIM AS WE CLBED FOLLOWING THE TCASII INSTRUCTIONS. A RATHER UNCOMFORTABLE SIT.
