Narrative:

The day before, I had to return to the field as a result of a partial power loss. The company mechanic could not immediately ascertain the problem, so a replacement airplane was provided. I refueled from pump #2 which was jet-a which was the same pump I had fueled for the previous day. On pump #1, 100LL, someone had jammed the hose up while trying to rewind it electronically. They then gathered up the remainder of the hose and hung it on some valves that were between pump #2 and pump #1. As a result, the hanging hose now concealed the jet-a sign. Since both hoses were the same color and size and there was only 1 tank. I assumed that #2 as also was 100LL. Apparently this was not the case. After having an increase in oil temperature I returned to the field and suspecting a problem with the fuel, I pulled back the hoses and now idented the problem. I notified the owner of the problem and the company mechanic. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter revealed that, a few days after his experience, signs were installed at the individual fuel counters allowing positive identify of the fuel being pumped.

Title: A PA32 PLT, RETURNED TO DEP ARPT, GALENA, AK (PAGA) WHEN THE ENG OIL TEMP STARTED TO INCREASE.

Narrative: THE DAY BEFORE, I HAD TO RETURN TO THE FIELD AS A RESULT OF A PARTIAL PWR LOSS. THE COMPANY MECH COULD NOT IMMEDIATELY ASCERTAIN THE PROB, SO A REPLACEMENT AIRPLANE WAS PROVIDED. I REFUELED FROM PUMP #2 WHICH WAS JET-A WHICH WAS THE SAME PUMP I HAD FUELED FOR THE PREVIOUS DAY. ON PUMP #1, 100LL, SOMEONE HAD JAMMED THE HOSE UP WHILE TRYING TO REWIND IT ELECTRONICALLY. THEY THEN GATHERED UP THE REMAINDER OF THE HOSE AND HUNG IT ON SOME VALVES THAT WERE BTWN PUMP #2 AND PUMP #1. AS A RESULT, THE HANGING HOSE NOW CONCEALED THE JET-A SIGN. SINCE BOTH HOSES WERE THE SAME COLOR AND SIZE AND THERE WAS ONLY 1 TANK. I ASSUMED THAT #2 AS ALSO WAS 100LL. APPARENTLY THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. AFTER HAVING AN INCREASE IN OIL TEMP I RETURNED TO THE FIELD AND SUSPECTING A PROB WITH THE FUEL, I PULLED BACK THE HOSES AND NOW IDENTED THE PROB. I NOTIFIED THE OWNER OF THE PROB AND THE COMPANY MECH. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR REVEALED THAT, A FEW DAYS AFTER HIS EXPERIENCE, SIGNS WERE INSTALLED AT THE INDIVIDUAL FUEL COUNTERS ALLOWING POSITIVE IDENT OF THE FUEL BEING PUMPED.
