Narrative:
On taxi out at position, we received clearance from position tower to taxi to the holding point runway 10 via taxiway A1. We proceeded to taxi via taxiway A1 across runway 10 and along the parallel to the holding point at the end of runway 10. This is the normal way we taxi there to this runway. On the parallel taxiway, position tower advised that we were supposed to hold short of the runway. We had looked when crossing the runway which was clear. There was 1 aircraft on 4 mi final and WX was cavu. ATC never stated to either hold short or to taxi to the hold point at taxiway A1. The clearance was taxi to the hold point at the end of the runway via that taxiway. I believe the verbiage was misleading with what ATC wanted us to do. Supplemental information from acn 550249: piarco tower directed XXXX to 'taxi via A1 to hold point runway one zero.' readback was word-for-word. We were confident that we executed the taxi instruction as they were given.

Title: A B757 CREW, TAXIING FOR TKOF AT PORT OF SPAIN (TTPP) TAXIED ACROSS THE RWY INSTEAD OF HOLDING SHORT.
Narrative: ON TAXI OUT AT POS, WE RECEIVED CLRNC FROM POS TWR TO TAXI TO THE HOLDING POINT RWY 10 VIA TXWY A1. WE PROCEEDED TO TAXI VIA TXWY A1 ACROSS RWY 10 AND ALONG THE PARALLEL TO THE HOLDING POINT AT THE END OF RWY 10. THIS IS THE NORMAL WAY WE TAXI THERE TO THIS RWY. ON THE PARALLEL TXWY, POS TWR ADVISED THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT OF THE RWY. WE HAD LOOKED WHEN XING THE RWY WHICH WAS CLR. THERE WAS 1 ACFT ON 4 MI FINAL AND WX WAS CAVU. ATC NEVER STATED TO EITHER HOLD SHORT OR TO TAXI TO THE HOLD POINT AT TXWY A1. THE CLRNC WAS TAXI TO THE HOLD POINT AT THE END OF THE RWY VIA THAT TXWY. I BELIEVE THE VERBIAGE WAS MISLEADING WITH WHAT ATC WANTED US TO DO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 550249: PIARCO TWR DIRECTED XXXX TO 'TAXI VIA A1 TO HOLD POINT RWY ONE ZERO.' READBACK WAS WORD-FOR-WORD. WE WERE CONFIDENT THAT WE EXECUTED THE TAXI INSTRUCTION AS THEY WERE GIVEN.
