Narrative:
This report is on airline aircraft X log page xxxxxx on jun/mon/02. I was sent on a road trip to ZZZ to repair a gouge found 36 inches aft of cabin door and 6 inches above lap splice. My job was to fly from ZZZ1 to ZZZ and install a class III repair in accordance with srm 53-04 figure 12B sheets 4, 94 and 95. When I arrived in ZZZ, the gouge had been checked for cracks and no cracks were found. I installed the repair, signed off the logbook accordingly and returned to ZZZ1 the next morning. Several days later, it was brought to my attention that we had an inspection problem. So I reviewed the logbook page, the srm repair and the general procedures manual on rii inspection. Only then did I realize that an rii was not accomplished at the time when the repair was done. Inspection was done on jun/tue/02 and it checked ok.
