Narrative:
While climbing to cruise altitude from ZZZ en route ZZZ1, got steady level 2 alert 'fuel off schedule.' while troubleshooting and verifying that both fuel system channels 'a' and 'B' revealed same alert, the 'fuel off schedule' alert permanently extinguished, and received steady level 1 alert 'fuel level low.' both fuel system channels 'a' and 'B' revealed same alert. Left main tank and right main each indicated 8900 pounds, center tank indicated 200-300 pounds. Made decision to divert to mco. Remainder of descent, approach, landing and taxi were uneventful. 'Fuel level low' remained illuminated throughout. The next day. I learned from company maintenance personnel that one of the main fuel tank float switches was defective and required replacement. Supposedly this was the first malfunction of its kind at this company.

REMAINDER OF DSCNT, APCH, LNDG AND TAXI WERE UNEVENTFUL. 'FUEL LEVEL LOW' REMAINED ILLUMINATED THROUGHOUT. THE NEXT DAY. I LEARNED FROM COMPANY MAINT PERSONNEL THAT ONE OF THE MAIN FUEL TANK FLOAT SWITCHES WAS DEFECTIVE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. SUPPOSEDLY THIS WAS THE FIRST MALFUNCTION OF ITS KIND AT THIS COMPANY.
