Narrative:
I was first officer on flight XXX leaving jfk for nrt. Just prior to pushback, we asked the agent for the security form stating the preflight security checks had been completed, the agent informed us that the aircraft had previously flown that day from lhr to jfk. Upon looking at the logbook, it was discovered that the information to crew entry had not been entered in the book. At that time, the captain had the relief pilot contact dispatch to see if we could get confirmation that the security check had in fact been completed. The dispatcher contacted london and gave us the time date and name of the captain who signed the form in london. At that time, our captain thought that sufficed in our requirement of verifying the check had been previously preformed. At that time I stated I did not think that was the case and that without the entry in the log book from the london flight that a new security inspection was required. The captain said he did not think that was the case and made the decision to go without getting a new security check performed.
