Narrative:
Terrain clearance with GPWS activation on takeoff runway 8 at abq. All of it came about due to abq's supposed 'informal noise abatement' policy (which is only 'requested' on the abq 1 SID). Anyway, the confusion that tower caused when we were cleared with a 310 degree heading after takeoff, by telling us then (while airborne) that we had to go back to 080 degrees for the 'noise abatement procedure,' set us up for about 2 mins of confusion and GPWS activation that was totally unnecessary. We had visual clearance at all times of the terrain.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A320 FLC HAD GPWS ACTIVATION DURING CLBOUT FROM ABQ RWY 8 DUE TO CLRNC CONFUSION IN FOLLOWING THE HDG ASSIGNED BY ATC TO TURN TO AFTER TKOF, AND THAT CALLED FOR IN THE SID NOISE ABATEMENT PROC.
