Narrative:
Planned departure from ZZZ, based on misinfo, as to engine performance. Release showed operation of mixed engines -7 and -9 pwred placard on aircraft engine console showed -7 and -9 power correction for takeoff power. As far as flight crew and dispatch were concerned, mixed engines were still on aircraft and power corrections were to be made. During 'C' check, mixed engines were removed and -9 (2 now) were hung and returned to line. Somehow, maintenance did not pass on necessary paperwork corrections to reflect same engines, -9, on aircraft. If change to logbook was made, I missed it. Aircraft returned to gate and did not depart due to other maintenance problem. Greater review of maintenance signoffs must be done, by flight crew and dispatch.
