Narrative:
After normal landing and taxi in and shutdown, completed shutdown checklist and advised flight attendants (3) that the doors were ok to open. First officer and myself then noticed a very large amount of smoke coming from rear aircraft right to forward aircraft left (rear quartering tailwind). First officer looked out window and was radioed by company ground crew as to a #2 engine fire. First officer confirmed smoke source and advised dtw ground to send fire trucks and emergency equipment. There was no ECAM fire message and fuel flow was xx=0. There was a very large smoke plume from #2 engine and I decided to push engine #2 fire push button and discharge agent 1 and 2. First officer went downstairs to confirm with the fire department that the fire was out, which was the case. I notified first flight attendant to deplane remaining 1/2 - 1/3 passenger as expeditiously as possible with no emergency evacuate/evacuation at this time. First flight attendant notified third flight attendant of situation and third flight attendant requested catering truck to back away from aircraft in case of possible evacuate/evacuation to which catering crew said 'no way' as this is our last aircraft for evening and we are going home.' passenger deplaned without injury or incident as well as crew. Catering company should be terminated immediately for safety violations. First officer, cabin crew, ground crew and dtw should be commended for decisive actions taken and quick response time.
