Narrative:
On taxi out both engines running. First officer did his after start flow and selected automatic brakes to maximum. This caused the aircraft to come to a rapid stop. Automatic brakes were deselected and braking was normal. We again tried to arm the automatic brakes to maximum and the aircraft once again came to an abrupt stop. We then found out that a flight attendant had suffered an ankle injury and needed medical attention. We then returned to the gate and called dispatch and maintenance. During our debrief the first officer said that he had failed to disarm the speed brakes after our taxi in. This could have caused a sequencing problem according to maintenance. This item should be considered as a checklist item in the future. In addition, on taxi in I noticed that the flaps had not been retracted and instructed the first officer to complete the after landing flow. The speed brake lever was apparently missed resulting in this incident.

Title: A320 FLC HAS BRAKE MALFUNCTION WHILE TAXIING FOR TKOF INJURING A FLT ATTENDANT.
Narrative: ON TAXI OUT BOTH ENGS RUNNING. FO DID HIS AFTER START FLOW AND SELECTED AUTO BRAKES TO MAX. THIS CAUSED THE ACFT TO COME TO A RAPID STOP. AUTO BRAKES WERE DESELECTED AND BRAKING WAS NORMAL. WE AGAIN TRIED TO ARM THE AUTO BRAKES TO MAX AND THE ACFT ONCE AGAIN CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. WE THEN FOUND OUT THAT A FLT ATTENDANT HAD SUFFERED AN ANKLE INJURY AND NEEDED MEDICAL ATTN. WE THEN RETURNED TO THE GATE AND CALLED DISPATCH AND MAINT. DURING OUR DEBRIEF THE FO SAID THAT HE HAD FAILED TO DISARM THE SPD BRAKES AFTER OUR TAXI IN. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SEQUENCING PROB ACCORDING TO MAINT. THIS ITEM SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A CHKLIST ITEM IN THE FUTURE. IN ADDITION, ON TAXI IN I NOTICED THAT THE FLAPS HAD NOT BEEN RETRACTED AND INSTRUCTED THE FO TO COMPLETE THE AFTER LNDG FLOW. THE SPD BRAKE LEVER WAS APPARENTLY MISSED RESULTING IN THIS INCIDENT.
