Narrative:
Had leveled off at FL310 when we detected smoke in cockpit. The smoke had an oily nature, not electrical. The captain (PF) immediately declared an emergency. ZTL gave us FL240. We suspected bleed air. The captain turned bleeds to both off and dumped cabin. We descended, were given 11000 ft, then 6000 ft, and told to contact gsp approach 118.8. We called the field in sight and were cleared to land. There was no fire, only smoke. The captain filled out the form from the fireman who sent it to the tower at gsp. At this time the reason for the smoke is yet to be solved.
