Narrative:
On oct/thu/02 I was the PNF on the C340. Out of habit, while filing the IFR flight plan, I listed myself as the PIC on the flight from csg to 0a3. The owner of the aircraft was the PF as well as the PIC on this flight. While taxiing out of csg, I was running checklists and setting up the GPS when the PIC taxied through the hold short line for runway 6. When I looked outside, the PIC had already taxied through the hold short line. I told him to stop, and I immediately called tower and told them we had gone through the hold short line and asked what they wanted us to do to correct the situation. The tower gave us instructions to do a 180 degree turn on the taxiway and once again hold short of runway 6. The PIC is a business man and not a professional aviator. In my opinion, his haste to get the flight underway was the cause of the problem. Until our discussion after the above event, I do not think he understood the importance of holding short of the hold short line. After our discussion, I assure you he does understand the importance, and I am convinced it will not happen again.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: THE PIC OF A C340 TAXIES ACROSS THE HOLD SHORT LINE BEFORE THE FO CAN STOP THE RWY INCURSION AT CSG, GA.
Narrative: ON OCT/THU/02 I WAS THE PNF ON THE C340. OUT OF HABIT, WHILE FILING THE IFR FLT PLAN, I LISTED MYSELF AS THE PIC ON THE FLT FROM CSG TO 0A3. THE OWNER OF THE ACFT WAS THE PF AS WELL AS THE PIC ON THIS FLT. WHILE TAXIING OUT OF CSG, I WAS RUNNING CHKLISTS AND SETTING UP THE GPS WHEN THE PIC TAXIED THROUGH THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 6. WHEN I LOOKED OUTSIDE, THE PIC HAD ALREADY TAXIED THROUGH THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I TOLD HIM TO STOP, AND I IMMEDIATELY CALLED TWR AND TOLD THEM WE HAD GONE THROUGH THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND ASKED WHAT THEY WANTED US TO DO TO CORRECT THE SIT. THE TWR GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS TO DO A 180 DEG TURN ON THE TXWY AND ONCE AGAIN HOLD SHORT OF RWY 6. THE PIC IS A BUSINESS MAN AND NOT A PROFESSIONAL AVIATOR. IN MY OPINION, HIS HASTE TO GET THE FLT UNDERWAY WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROB.
