Narrative:
Tower cleared our flight for takeoff. The first officer completed the line-up checklist, including the task of ensuring that the 'takeoff confign ok' message was displayed on EICAS. Takeoff thrust was applied and we received a 'confign spoilers' warning message. The takeoff was discontinued at approximately 30 KIAS. As thrust was reduced to idle, the warning message went away and the 'takeoff confign ok' message reappeared. Dispatch and maintenance control were consulted. Maintenance directed us to shut down the aircraft for 30 seconds then restart. We complied. Maintenance then had us check the hydraulics and flight controls for normal operation. That completed, maintenance told me not to record the event in the maintenance log and pronounced us fit for flight. The subsequent takeoff proceeded normally.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CL65 CREW WAS INSTRUCTED TO NOT RECORD A MAINT DISCREPANCY WHICH RESULTED IN AN ABORTED TKOF AT TUL.
Narrative: TWR CLRED OUR FLT FOR TKOF. THE FO COMPLETED THE LINE-UP CHKLIST, INCLUDING THE TASK OF ENSURING THAT THE 'TKOF CONFIGN OK' MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON EICAS. TKOF THRUST WAS APPLIED AND WE RECEIVED A 'CONFIGN SPOILERS' WARNING MESSAGE. THE TKOF WAS DISCONTINUED AT APPROX 30 KIAS. AS THRUST WAS REDUCED TO IDLE, THE WARNING MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND THE 'TKOF CONFIGN OK' MESSAGE REAPPEARED. DISPATCH AND MAINT CTL WERE CONSULTED. MAINT DIRECTED US TO SHUT DOWN THE ACFT FOR 30 SECONDS THEN RESTART. WE COMPLIED. MAINT THEN HAD US CHK THE HYDS AND FLT CTLS FOR NORMAL OP. THAT COMPLETED, MAINT TOLD ME NOT TO RECORD THE EVENT IN THE MAINT LOG AND PRONOUNCED US FIT FOR FLT. THE SUBSEQUENT TKOF PROCEEDED NORMALLY.
