Narrative:

On approach to sfo, visual conditions, I leveled at 5000 ft and reduced speed with the intent of speeding up to the assigned speed of 220 KTS when cleared to descend. Flaps 1 degree, gear up. We were cleared for the tipp toe visual, altitude window was set at 1900 ft and I pulled the altitude knob. The FMA read open descent and I twisted the airspeed up to 220 KTS. The aircraft didn't descend and sped up as commanded. At about 215 KTS, I confirmed open descent and repulled the altitude knob. The engines continued to accelerate and the airspeed continued to climb. I disconnected the autoplt and autothrottle, pulled the throttles to idle. Speed got to approximately 237 KTS for approximately 3-5 seconds. I have been on this aircraft for 6+ yrs.

Title: AN AIRBUS 320 AT 5000 FT CLRED FOR A TIPP TOE APCH WITH ALT SELECT SET AT 1900 FT HAD THE ENGS ACCELERATE AND AIRSPD INCREASE.

Narrative: ON APCH TO SFO, VISUAL CONDITIONS, I LEVELED AT 5000 FT AND REDUCED SPD WITH THE INTENT OF SPDING UP TO THE ASSIGNED SPD OF 220 KTS WHEN CLRED TO DSND. FLAPS 1 DEG, GEAR UP. WE WERE CLRED FOR THE TIPP TOE VISUAL, ALT WINDOW WAS SET AT 1900 FT AND I PULLED THE ALT KNOB. THE FMA READ OPEN DSCNT AND I TWISTED THE AIRSPD UP TO 220 KTS. THE ACFT DIDN'T DSND AND SPED UP AS COMMANDED. AT ABOUT 215 KTS, I CONFIRMED OPEN DSCNT AND REPULLED THE ALT KNOB. THE ENGS CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND THE AIRSPD CONTINUED TO CLB. I DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND AUTOTHROTTLE, PULLED THE THROTTLES TO IDLE. SPD GOT TO APPROX 237 KTS FOR APPROX 3-5 SECONDS. I HAVE BEEN ON THIS ACFT FOR 6+ YRS.
