Narrative:
Experienced fuel exhaustion in landing pattern at P19 (stellar) chandler, az. Aircraft had been topped off 3.5 hours prior to exhaustion of fuel. Landed in dirt field 200-250 yards short of runway 17. Fuel thefts had been reported at this airport in last 30 days. I believe this contributed to this occurrence. Aircraft has been inspected and no damage was found.
