Narrative:
On an introductory flight with a potential student, I approached eugene from the north and was given clearance to land. I only wanted to do a touch-and-go then depart the area back to the north, so I asked the tower for a touch-and-go. Tower cleared me 'for the option.' I neglected to inform tower of my intention to leave the pattern after the touch-and-go. Climbing out northbound, I heard tower give a twin a clearance to take off. As the twin overtook us from behind, tower told me to begin my crosswind turn. I then told tower I wanted to depart the area. Clearly exasperated, controller gave the twin a suggested vector to avoid me, then terminated my radar service. I never saw the twin, so I don't know how close we came. My fault! I should have been more explicit in my intentions to the tower. Major contributing factor was distraction caused by rambunctious front seat passenger, an jr high student who wants to learn to fly. Still no excuse for what happened, though.

Title: A C172 PLT, AFTER MAKING A TOUCH-AND-GO AT EUG, DEPARTED THE TFC PATTERN WITHOUT ADVISING THE TWR CTLR OF HIS INTENTIONS.
Narrative: ON AN INTRODUCTORY FLT WITH A POTENTIAL STUDENT, I APCHED EUGENE FROM THE N AND WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO LAND. I ONLY WANTED TO DO A TOUCH-AND-GO THEN DEPART THE AREA BACK TO THE N, SO I ASKED THE TWR FOR A TOUCH-AND-GO. TWR CLRED ME 'FOR THE OPTION.' I NEGLECTED TO INFORM TWR OF MY INTENTION TO LEAVE THE PATTERN AFTER THE TOUCH-AND-GO. CLBING OUT NBOUND, I HEARD TWR GIVE A TWIN A CLRNC TO TAKE OFF. AS THE TWIN OVERTOOK US FROM BEHIND, TWR TOLD ME TO BEGIN MY XWIND TURN. I THEN TOLD TWR I WANTED TO DEPART THE AREA. CLRLY EXASPERATED, CTLR GAVE THE TWIN A SUGGESTED VECTOR TO AVOID ME, THEN TERMINATED MY RADAR SVC. I NEVER SAW THE TWIN, SO I DON'T KNOW HOW CLOSE WE CAME. MY FAULT! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE EXPLICIT IN MY INTENTIONS TO THE TWR. MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS DISTR CAUSED BY RAMBUNCTIOUS FRONT SEAT PAX, AN JR HIGH STUDENT WHO WANTS TO LEARN TO FLY.
