Narrative:

I was on an IFR flight plan to otm. On approach into otm, I lowered the landing gear and did not get a green light for the left main gear. I did the emergency gear extension procedures, including recycling the gear, and yawing aircraft side-to-side, after which I still could not get a green light for left main. Having done everything I could do to get the green light, I proceeded to land. The landing was fine, however, about 2/3 of the way through the rollout, the left main collapsed and the aircraft skidded on the left flap wingtip. I maintained sufficient control to keep aircraft from going off runway side. Several folks, including an aircraft mechanic came out and we got the plane jacked up and the left gear extended. It was very difficult for the mechanic to get the left gear locked and he said that this mechanical problem was what prevented me from getting it locked in the air. He also said this mechanical gear problem was not caused by the collapse and sliding, but was present beforehand. The plane was easily towed to a hangar.

Title: GA ACFT HAS L MAIN GEAR MALFUNCTION DURING LNDG.

Narrative: I WAS ON AN IFR FLT PLAN TO OTM. ON APCH INTO OTM, I LOWERED THE LNDG GEAR AND DID NOT GET A GREEN LIGHT FOR THE L MAIN GEAR. I DID THE EMER GEAR EXTENSION PROCS, INCLUDING RECYCLING THE GEAR, AND YAWING ACFT SIDE-TO-SIDE, AFTER WHICH I STILL COULD NOT GET A GREEN LIGHT FOR L MAIN. HAVING DONE EVERYTHING I COULD DO TO GET THE GREEN LIGHT, I PROCEEDED TO LAND. THE LNDG WAS FINE, HOWEVER, ABOUT 2/3 OF THE WAY THROUGH THE ROLLOUT, THE L MAIN COLLAPSED AND THE ACFT SKIDDED ON THE L FLAP WINGTIP. I MAINTAINED SUFFICIENT CTL TO KEEP ACFT FROM GOING OFF RWY SIDE. SEVERAL FOLKS, INCLUDING AN ACFT MECH CAME OUT AND WE GOT THE PLANE JACKED UP AND THE L GEAR EXTENDED. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE MECH TO GET THE L GEAR LOCKED AND HE SAID THAT THIS MECHANICAL PROB WAS WHAT PREVENTED ME FROM GETTING IT LOCKED IN THE AIR. HE ALSO SAID THIS MECHANICAL GEAR PROB WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE COLLAPSE AND SLIDING, BUT WAS PRESENT BEFOREHAND. THE PLANE WAS EASILY TOWED TO A HANGAR.
