Narrative:

I forgot to put the gear down! Of all people I fly jumpers (10000 hours worth) making 20 lndgs a day at times (with twin engine retractable gear). I have a gump check (3 times intentionally, 2 times automatically) on every landing. I can't believe it happened to me! I simply forgot to put the gear down. I did everything else in the gump check, but the gear! (I guess I need to learn to spell gump). I realized my mistake too late, reached for the gear lever but its locking device needs to be tripped first, so I reached for throttle too late. I was on (at an idle). I police myself more than most and I do a lot of test flying for people in one-of-a-kinds and homebuilt and ferrying jobs. I believe in procedures and checks, especially gump. Why I failed to put the gear down is unknown. Everything was normal, at home base, good WX, had 5 lifts that day (last one of day), no distraction.
