Narrative:
Received taxi clearance to runway 9L from gate via taxiway P. While approaching runway 9L, tower told us to stop and hold our position as we had crossed the hold bars serving both runway 9L and runway 12. We could see we were still well clear of runway 9L and mia tower continued to land aircraft on runway 9L. Prior to taxi, the first officer and I briefed our taxi route, and had our 10-9 pages out and referenced as our airline requires. I must confess, however, I did not brief the fact that runway 9L and runway 12 share unusual displaced hold bars, and the fact that many txwys merge in this area and could cause confusion -- especially at night. Taxi and pretkof duties added further distrs that contributed to our missing the hold short bars. I believe I now remember reading a company memo or publication at some time in the past, warning pilots of this specific spot at mia international airport, and to use caution as it has caused problems in the past. I realize that a more detailed briefing of the taxi route, with the hold short bar location included, could have prevented this mistake.

Title: RWY INCURSION FOR RWYS 9L AND 12 WHEN AN A320 FLC CROSSES THE HOLD SHORT LINE SERVING BOTH RWYS AT MIA, FL.
Narrative: RECEIVED TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 9L FROM GATE VIA TXWY P. WHILE APCHING RWY 9L, TWR TOLD US TO STOP AND HOLD OUR POS AS WE HAD CROSSED THE HOLD BARS SERVING BOTH RWY 9L AND RWY 12. WE COULD SEE WE WERE STILL WELL CLR OF RWY 9L AND MIA TWR CONTINUED TO LAND ACFT ON RWY 9L. PRIOR TO TAXI, THE FO AND I BRIEFED OUR TAXI RTE, AND HAD OUR 10-9 PAGES OUT AND REFERENCED AS OUR AIRLINE REQUIRES. I MUST CONFESS, HOWEVER, I DID NOT BRIEF THE FACT THAT RWY 9L AND RWY 12 SHARE UNUSUAL DISPLACED HOLD BARS, AND THE FACT THAT MANY TXWYS MERGE IN THIS AREA AND COULD CAUSE CONFUSION -- ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. TAXI AND PRETKOF DUTIES ADDED FURTHER DISTRS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO OUR MISSING THE HOLD SHORT BARS. I BELIEVE I NOW REMEMBER READING A COMPANY MEMO OR PUB AT SOME TIME IN THE PAST, WARNING PLTS OF THIS SPECIFIC SPOT AT MIA INTL ARPT, AND TO USE CAUTION AS IT HAS CAUSED PROBS IN THE PAST. I REALIZE THAT A MORE DETAILED BRIEFING OF THE TAXI RTE, WITH THE HOLD SHORT BAR LOCATION INCLUDED, COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS MISTAKE.
