Narrative:
I heard and felt a loud vibration which seemed to be coming from the left engine. I called the cockpit immediately and the first officer answered. She said they felt it up front and were working on it. Moments later, the captain called back saying the left engine shut down unexpectedly. He said we needed to prepare the cabin for emergency landing at phl, we would be landing in 15 mins and evacuate/evacuation would not likely be necessary. Flight attendants followed the planned emergency checklist, up to the point of reseating passenger, when time ran out as the captain said to prepare for landing. Just before we touched down at phl, the captain said on the PA to assume our brace position (which was demonstrated to passenger previously). We landed safely at phl and had to wait 15 mins to taxi in to a gate. We still have not been informed of the cause of engine failure.

Narrative: I HEARD AND FELT A LOUD VIBRATION WHICH SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE L ENG. I CALLED THE COCKPIT IMMEDIATELY AND THE FO ANSWERED. SHE SAID THEY FELT IT UP FRONT AND WERE WORKING ON IT. MOMENTS LATER, THE CAPT CALLED BACK SAYING THE L ENG SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. HE SAID WE NEEDED TO PREPARE THE CABIN FOR EMER LNDG AT PHL, WE WOULD BE LNDG IN 15 MINS AND EVAC WOULD NOT LIKELY BE NECESSARY. FLT ATTENDANTS FOLLOWED THE PLANNED EMER CHKLIST, UP TO THE POINT OF RESEATING PAX, WHEN TIME RAN OUT AS THE CAPT SAID TO PREPARE FOR LNDG. JUST BEFORE WE TOUCHED DOWN AT PHL, THE CAPT SAID ON THE PA TO ASSUME OUR BRACE POS (WHICH WAS DEMONSTRATED TO PAX PREVIOUSLY). WE LANDED SAFELY AT PHL AND HAD TO WAIT 15 MINS TO TAXI IN TO A GATE. WE STILL HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE CAUSE OF ENG FAILURE.
