Narrative:

During landing, I held off on the flare too long and contacted the aircraft's tail skid. Was unaware of this at the time. No noises or vibrations felt. First flight attendant advised of noise in aft section during flare. Postflt revealed scraped tail skid. Post mortem: no reason at all for this to have happened. I think I simply reverted to old DC10 technique momentarily. I know better!
