Narrative:

Ground controller cleared me (archer) to taxi via taxiway , turn right on taxiway with a hold short of runway X. After landing runway Y. After holding short of runway X for a short while, I (archer) requested to cross runway X for the flight school ramp. At this point, ground cleared 'school YYY (abbreviated call sign for archer) to cross runway X. I read back instruction 'archer cleared to cross runway X.' after crossing runway X, I was on taxiway, when ground advised me of my mistake. Ground controller then cleared me to taxi on to flight school ramp, after saying 'archer cleared to flight school ramp...I see that you already have done that.'
