Narrative:
Before departing ord on dec/tue/02, aircraft was deiced with type iv fluid, 100%. B737-800 directives require airspeed restr of 270 KTS until aircraft tail section is inspected. Arriving at iah approximately XA00, I reported the deicing procedures that were followed in the aircraft logbook. Thinking that maintenance would handle the inspection that is required. It is now known to me that dispatch should have been notified, not maintenance. Supplemental information from acn 567764: aircraft was anti-iced with type iv fluid which requires a 270 KT speed restr until the elevator trim tab has been cleaned. Dispatch was not informed that the type iv fluid was used, therefore, the speed restr (per the airworthiness directive) was not applied. Dispatch was not advised that the tabs had not been cleaned until dec/wed/02.

Title: B737-800 CREW DID NOT INSURE DISPATCH NOTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH ACFT ANTI-ICING IN ACCORDANCE WITH AN FAA AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE.
Narrative: BEFORE DEPARTING ORD ON DEC/TUE/02, ACFT WAS DEICED WITH TYPE IV FLUID, 100%. B737-800 DIRECTIVES REQUIRE AIRSPD RESTR OF 270 KTS UNTIL ACFT TAIL SECTION IS INSPECTED. ARRIVING AT IAH APPROX XA00, I RPTED THE DEICING PROCS THAT WERE FOLLOWED IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK. THINKING THAT MAINT WOULD HANDLE THE INSPECTION THAT IS REQUIRED. IT IS NOW KNOWN TO ME THAT DISPATCH SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED, NOT MAINT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 567764: ACFT WAS ANTI-ICED WITH TYPE IV FLUID WHICH REQUIRES A 270 KT SPD RESTR UNTIL THE ELEVATOR TRIM TAB HAS BEEN CLEANED. DISPATCH WAS NOT INFORMED THAT THE TYPE IV FLUID WAS USED, THEREFORE, THE SPD RESTR (PER THE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE) WAS NOT APPLIED. DISPATCH WAS NOT ADVISED THAT THE TABS HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED UNTIL DEC/WED/02.
