Narrative:
I was called by the captain after takeoff and told we were returning to the gate because there was a problem with the flaps. I was told that there would not be an emergency landing by the captain. We brought the same aircraft in from ZZZ1 flight ab, and sat with the plane for 4 hours. Apparently, the problem had been written up before. A problem with the flaps should be fixed, not passed on to the next flight, regardless of how serious they feel it is.
