Narrative:
As soon as we touched down, tower advised us to take the first high speed turnoff and to contact ground. The PF started the slow down early and turned onto the high speed exit. I heard tower clear an aircraft for immediate departure on our runway. I told the PF that we needed to hurry across the hold short line and exit the runway because an aircraft was on a takeoff roll. Then the tower called and told us to get off the runway. The PF remarked 'we are off the runway.' I pointed to the hold short line and advised that we needed to cross the line to be 'off the runway.' the tower called one last time for us to expedite off the runway. Finally, the PF pushed the power levers up and got us off the runway. I do not think the other pilot knows that after landing, you must taxi across the hold short line to be off the runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: GULFSTREAM 3 FLT CREW IS SLOW TO EXIT THE RWY WHILE ANOTHER ACFT IS BEGINNING ITS TKOF ROLL AT IAH.
Narrative: AS SOON AS WE TOUCHED DOWN, TWR ADVISED US TO TAKE THE FIRST HIGH SPD TURNOFF AND TO CONTACT GND. THE PF STARTED THE SLOW DOWN EARLY AND TURNED ONTO THE HIGH SPD EXIT. I HEARD TWR CLR AN ACFT FOR IMMEDIATE DEP ON OUR RWY. I TOLD THE PF THAT WE NEEDED TO HURRY ACROSS THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND EXIT THE RWY BECAUSE AN ACFT WAS ON A TKOF ROLL. THEN THE TWR CALLED AND TOLD US TO GET OFF THE RWY. THE PF REMARKED 'WE ARE OFF THE RWY.' I POINTED TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND ADVISED THAT WE NEEDED TO CROSS THE LINE TO BE 'OFF THE RWY.' THE TWR CALLED ONE LAST TIME FOR US TO EXPEDITE OFF THE RWY. FINALLY, THE PF PUSHED THE PWR LEVERS UP AND GOT US OFF THE RWY. I DO NOT THINK THE OTHER PLT KNOWS THAT AFTER LNDG, YOU MUST TAXI ACROSS THE HOLD SHORT LINE TO BE OFF THE RWY.
