Narrative:
Engine #1 fire on ground. Evacuate/evacuation aircraft through main door. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the #1 engine had been running for several mins when the fire warning activated. The engine was shut down and the fire fought in accordance with the checklist engine fire procedures. The passenger were evacuate/evacuationed and crash fire rescue equipment came to the scene. No determination has been relayed to the reporter as to whether it was a malfunction of the fire warning system or an actual fire.

Title: AN ON THE GND ENG FIRE IN THE #1 ENG OF AN ATR72.
Narrative: ENG #1 FIRE ON GND. EVAC ACFT THROUGH MAIN DOOR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE #1 ENG HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR SEVERAL MINS WHEN THE FIRE WARNING ACTIVATED. THE ENG WAS SHUT DOWN AND THE FIRE FOUGHT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CHKLIST ENG FIRE PROCS. THE PAX WERE EVACED AND CFR CAME TO THE SCENE. NO DETERMINATION HAS BEEN RELAYED TO THE RPTR AS TO WHETHER IT WAS A MALFUNCTION OF THE FIRE WARNING SYS OR AN ACTUAL FIRE.
